WooCommerce speed optimization, done by measuring first.
Slow stores are slow somewhere specific. We profile the whole request path first: TTFB, database queries, the image pipeline, Core Web Vitals from real visitors. Then senior engineers fix things in the order the numbers point to, with a measurement taken before and after each change. No snake-oil speed plugins.
Symptoms
What a slow store looks like from the inside.
- You’re chasing a PageSpeed score while checkout still crawls
- The site is quick on your laptop and slow for everyone else
- The orders screen in wp-admin takes 20 seconds to load
- Every speed plugin you’ve installed broke something else
- A newsletter goes out and the site falls over
- Mobile conversion keeps sliding and nobody can say why
What we do
Profile first. Then fix in the order the numbers say.
Real WooCommerce speed optimization starts with a profiler, not a plugin list. A store is rarely slow in one place. TTFB is high because every request drags megabytes of autoloaded options out of wp_options with no object cache in front of the database. LCP is high because a page builder ships render-blocking CSS to templates that never use it. The admin crawls because the orders query was never indexed for your data size. So we measure each layer, then fix server, database and frontend in that order. No plugin roulette.
Measure before we touch anything
- Core Web Vitals from real visitors (LCP, INP, CLS), not lab scores
- TTFB & server timing profiled template by template
- Slow-query logs pulled from catalog, cart & checkout
- A written baseline you keep, before anything ships
Fix what the server does
- Autoloaded options & stale transients cleared out
- Redis object cache set up so carts & sessions don’t break
- Indexes and query fixes for product, order & admin screens
- A read through the hosting, PHP & MySQL settings
Fix what the browser does
- Images sized, converted & lazy-loaded the way they should be
- Render-blocking CSS & JS cut back to what the page uses
- Page-builder & theme assets loaded per template, not everywhere
- INP & CLS fixes checked on real phones, not emulators
From the field
Mobile LCP sat at 6.1 seconds with three speed plugins stacked on top of each other. Checkout dragged. The admin orders screen was close to unusable.
The page builder pushed render-blocking CSS and JS onto every template. Hero images went out at full upload size. And every single request read 4MB of autoloaded options with no object cache in front of the database.
We scoped the builder assets per template, resized the image pipeline, added a Redis object cache and pruned the autoload bloat. Field data now puts LCP at 1.2 seconds, and the admin is quick again.
Questions
What store owners ask us about WooCommerce speed optimization.
What does WooCommerce speed optimization cost?
The diagnosis costs nothing. A speed audit is part of the free triage. The work itself runs through the Engineering plan at $1,950/month, or as a fixed-price project quoted once the audit shows us the scope. No open-ended hourly meter. See plans.
Do you guarantee results?
After the diagnosis, yes: we put measurable Core Web Vitals targets in writing and hold ourselves to them. What we won’t do is promise numbers before we’ve profiled your store. Anyone quoting you a score up front is guessing.
Will we need new hosting?
Only if the numbers say so. Usually the host is fine and the application is the problem: autoload bloat, a missing object cache, unindexed queries. When hosting genuinely is the bottleneck we’ll tell you, and we’ll attach the measurements that show it.
Why not just install a caching plugin?
Page caching helps anonymous catalog traffic. It does nothing for the pages that take money, because cart, checkout and account bypass the cache by design. That’s how a store “passes” PageSpeed while checkout still crawls. Those pages get faster only when the queries and assets behind them get faster.
How long does it take?
The audit takes a few days. Most fixes land in two to four weeks, shipped in small pieces and measured before and after each one, so you can see which change moved which metric.
